Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh inaugurated the newly re-developed Hutatma Smruti Smarak at Patradevi, Goa, on August 26, 2026, a historic site commemorating the state's liberation struggle from Portuguese rule. The memorial, re-developed by the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation at a cost of approximately Rs 9.50 crore, honours Satyagrahis who participated in the peaceful movement, notably on August 15, 1955, when many faced Portuguese machine-gun fire at Patradevi. Goa Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant and Union Minister of State Shri Shripad Y. Naik were also present.
