Union Minister of Communications Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia announced that the Department of Telecommunications' (DoT) Sanchar Saathi initiative has achieved a record recovery of over 75,000 lost and stolen mobile handsets in a single month across India, marking the first time such a milestone has been reached since its inception. This accomplishment, a result of collaborative efforts between DoT, telecom service providers, and police departments, reflects a significant 201% rise in monthly handset recoveries from April 2025 to July 2026. The initiative enhances citizen empowerment through technology-driven governance, providing features like police station traceability and details of SIM insertion to aid recovery.

Vice President Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan is scheduled to undertake a three-day visit to Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Keralam, and Lakshadweep from August 29 to 31, 2026, participating in a diverse range of programmes. His itinerary includes attending the Founder’s Day Celebration of Kongu Vellalar Institute of Technology Trust in Erode, Tamil Nadu, and the centenary celebrations of former Karnataka Chief Minister Shri Ramakrishna Hegde in Bengaluru on August 29. The Vice President will also inaugurate the Aranmula Water Festival 2026 and Onam Pageantry in Keralam on August 30, and serve as Chief Guest for a Ministry of Fisheries outreach programme in Agatti, Lakshadweep, on August 31.

The President of India, following consultation with the Chief Justice of India, has approved several judicial appointments for the Calcutta High Court. Shri Justice Biswaroop Chowdhury, previously an Additional Judge, has been appointed as a permanent Judge of the High Court. Additionally, six other Additional Judges—Shri Justice Prasenjit Biswas, Shri Justice Uday Kumar, Shri Justice Ajay Kumar Gupta, Shri Justice Supratim Bhattacharya, Shri Justice Partha Sarathi Chatterjee, and Shri Justice Md. Shabbar Rashidi—have been appointed for a fresh term of six months, effective from August 31, 2026.

The Department of Drinking Water & Sanitation (DDWS) under the Ministry of Jal Shakti has urged States and Union Territories to facilitate student participation from local academic institutions in documenting best practices under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) 2.0. This initiative aims to strengthen field-based learning, promote innovation, and enhance the visibility of impactful work in rural water supply, covering areas like community participation and water quality management. States/UTs are encouraged to engage colleges and universities for case studies and organize tours for higher secondary students to sites like Multi Village Schemes and Water Treatment Plants, with a target of at least one student tour and one published case study per district by September 2026.

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology and Earth Sciences, Dr. Jitendra Singh, underscored the critical role of good corporate governance in India's development during an interaction with a delegation from the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) on August 28, 2026. He highlighted the expanding role of Company Secretaries in promoting responsible governance, ethical practices, and institutional accountability across the corporate and economic ecosystem. Dr. Singh also lauded ICSI's initiatives in Panchayat and local-body governance, including the preparation of manuals and training materials in multiple languages.

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), India, announced it will conduct a two-day 'Open Hearing and Camp Sitting' in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, on September 2-3, 2026, to address alleged human rights violations within the state. NHRC Chairperson, Justice V. Ramasubramanian, along with Members Justice (Dr.) Bidyut Ranjan Sarangi and Smt. Vijaya Bharathi Sayani, will preside over the hearings at the National Forensic Sciences University. A dedicated session on September 3, 2026, will focus on alleged cases of bonded labour in Gujarat, followed by interactions with civil society and state officials.

The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA), in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA), organized a 'Tech for Professionals' Workshop on August 27, 2026, at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi. Chaired by Secretary, MCA, Dr. Pallavi Jain Govil, the event aimed to strengthen India's domestic professional services ecosystem by building a shared digital infrastructure. This initiative stems from a Sub-Committee report submitted in May 2026, which recommended a government-backed Digital Public Good (DPG) framework comprising curated technology access, learning and capability development, and knowledge and practice infrastructure.

During the 'Tech for Professionals' Workshop on August 27, 2026, a key technical session examined the purpose and possible contours of shared digital infrastructure for audit, compliance, and consulting services. Moderated by Shri Richard Rekhy, Vice Chairman, Grant Thornton Bharat, discussions explored how such infrastructure could address existing gaps and drew lessons from India's wider experience with Digital Public Infrastructure. This session highlighted the potential for a government-backed Digital Public Good (DPG) framework to enhance technology adoption and competitiveness across the professional services ecosystem.
