The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) announced the results for the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) Assistant Commandants (Executive) Limited Departmental Competitive Examination, 2026, on September 3, 2026. A total of 20 candidates have been recommended for appointment, comprising 16 from the General category, 3 from Scheduled Castes, and 1 from Scheduled Tribes. The written examination was held on March 8, 2026, followed by Personality Test interviews from August 17 to 19, 2026. The final appointments are contingent upon the outcome of Writ Petition (C) Nos. 5877/2022, currently pending before the Hon’ble High Court of Delhi.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) held its fourth regional conference on "Electoral Literacy Clubs (ELC 2.0) and ECINet" in Goa on September 3, 2026, aimed at enhancing electoral literacy and democratic awareness among young citizens. Chief Election Commissioner Shri Gyanesh Kumar stated that ELCs are crucial platforms for students to understand electoral processes and democratic values, with the ELC 2.0 initiative, themed "Learn Democracy. Lead Democracy.", reimagining these clubs as structured and digitally enabled platforms across educational institutions. The ECINet digital platform will further support continuous, year-round electoral literacy activities, leveraging India's vast educational ecosystem to promote informed democratic participation.

Union Minister for Railways Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw conducted a detailed safety review meeting at Rail Bhawan today, issuing directives to enhance railway safety and address technical and maintenance deficiencies across the network. Key instructions included a mission-mode approach to rectify signalling issues, ensuring timely maintenance and replacement of Overhead Equipment (OHE) components that have completed their prescribed service life, and improving coach maintenance, particularly electrical circuits for fire safety. The Minister also mandated stringent action, including permanent blacklisting, against suppliers providing poor-quality materials for Signalling & Telecommunication (S&T), OHE, track, coaches, or wagons, and against cases of deliberate negligence.

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Shri Gyanesh Kumar announced the reimagined Electoral Literacy Clubs (ELC 2.0) at the Election Commission of India’s fourth regional conference on "Electoral Literacy Clubs (ELC 2.0) and ECINet" in Madgaon, South Goa, on September 3, 2026. With the tagline "Learn Democracy, Lead Democracy," ELC 2.0 aims to transform approximately 15 lakh schools and 1,500 universities across India into hubs of electoral literacy, empowering young citizens to understand electoral processes and strengthen democracy. The initiative will leverage the ECINet digital platform to facilitate continuous, year-round electoral education, providing information on electoral registration, polling, and other key ECI initiatives.

A 31-member Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) has been constituted to thoroughly examine the proposed Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA) amendment bill. This committee will scrutinize the provisions of the bill, which governs the acceptance and utilisation of foreign contributions by individuals and associations in India, ensuring legislative oversight.

The Karnataka government, on Thursday, suspended IAS officer Gyanendra Kumar Gangwar, a 2016-batch Karnataka-cadre officer, following his arrest by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in connection with an alleged fraud in the selection of veterinarians for 400 state vacancies. Gangwar, who was serving as Controller of Examinations at the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) when the alleged fraud occurred, was remanded to judicial custody on August 30. The suspension order, issued under Rule 3(2) read with 3(3) of the All India Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1969, cites the officer's custody for over 48 hours and the gravity of allegations concerning the integrity of the recruitment process.

The Manipur Government, through its Home Department, issued an order on Thursday warning of strict legal action against individuals, organizations, and groups involved in road blockades, obstructions, and damage to public property across the state. The order prohibits blocking National Highways, State Highways, or public roads, and restricting the movement of essential commodities, fuel, medicines, and emergency services. Violators may face prosecution under relevant laws, including Section 8B of the National Highways Act, 1956, the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, the Motor Vehicles Act, the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, without further notice.
